Barry Marshall

2005 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine

Since the discovery of Helicobacter pylori with Robin Warren in 1982, Professor Barry Marshall has been leading the research team for in-depth exploration of Helicobacter pylori. He has won many awards for his discovery of Helicobacter pylori, the most remarkable of which was the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2005. Over the past few years, Professor Barry Marshall's laboratory has developed and intensified non-invasive studies on the molecular epidemiology of H. pylori, most notably the rapid breath test and the detection of the pathogen from swallowed wires. Ondek, a biotechnology company of Professor Barry Marshall, which focuses on the development of delivery systems for vaccines and drug therapies using specific, genetically modified Helicobacter pylori, has successfully received funding from national and international investors in recent years.
