Ma Yanhe

Ma Yanhe is currently the Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the 17th People's Congress of Tianjin, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party and Chairman of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Party, and Director of the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has long been engaged in the research in biotechnology and has undertaken many important scientific and technological tasks in this field in China. He was the chief scientist of a major project in the synthetic biology in the National 973 Program and expert in the 863 Program, promoted the technological innovation and industrialization implementation of multiple industrial biomanufacturing products, led the teams to develop several new industrial enzymes and industrial strains, promoting the major development of China's oligosaccharide industry, breaking the international monopoly of key industrial strains and pushing forward the green transformation of chemical synthesis processes. He has published more than 380 SCI-indexed papers in Science, Nature Communications, Angew Chem Int Ed and other journals, one monograph in English, and has 350 invention patents granted or pending at home and abroad. He was awarded the second prize of the National Technical Invention Award and four first prizes at provincial and ministerial level.
