Fan Gang

Renowned Economist, Director of the National Economic Research Institute (NERI)

Ph.D. in Economics, Professor of Economics at Peking University HSBC Business School, Vice President of the China Society of Economic Reform, Director of the National Economic Research Institute, and President of China (Shenzhen) Development Institute, a national high-end think tank. Specializing in macroeconomics, transition economics, and development economics, he earned his Ph.D. in 1988 and joined the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, later serving as Editor-in-Chief of Economic Research Journal (1992–1993) and Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics (1994–1995). In 1996, he founded NERI and twice served on the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China (2006–2010, 2015–2018). Internationally recognized, he received honorary doctorates from France’s Université d’Auvergne (2004) and Canada’s Royal Roads University (2010), and was thrice named among the "World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals/Thinkers" by Foreign Policy and Prospect (2005, 2008, 2010).
