Yongmin Zhang

Member of French National Academy of Pharmacy

Yongmin Zhang, director of the French National Scientific Research Center, pharmaceutical chemist, academician of the French National Academy of Science and Pharmacy, and the first Chinese scientist in France to be elected as an academician of the French Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the Department of Pharmacy of Beijing Medical College (now the School of Pharmacy of Peking University) in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his master's degree from the School of Pharmacy of the University of Paris XI (University of South Paris) in 1983 and the French national doctorate degree from the School of Pharmacy of the University of Paris XI in 1986 and won the first prize for doctoral thesis. He was mainly engaged in the research of natural medicine in the 1980s. Because of his achievements in the research of analgesic drugs, he won the encouragement Award for Pharmaceutical Chemistry Research at the 25th International Congress of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1989. He began to study sugar chemistry and sugar biology in the 1990s. In selective glycosylation, chemical synthesis of complex sugars, research on new drugs based on sugars, interaction between sugars and sugars, chemical synthesis and biological activity evaluation of carbon sugars and nitrogen sugars, chemical structure modification of cyclodextrins, synthesis and biological research of water-soluble fullerenes have done a series of original work. At present, it is committed to the scientific research of antineoplastic drugs, diabetes drugs, antiviral drugs and so on.
