Ma Keping

Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Biodiversity Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

Ma Keping, a Researcher at the Institute of Botany, CAS and a Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Director of IUCN and Chairman of the Asia Region Membership Committee, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the Committee on Biodiversity of CAS, Editor-in-Chief of Biodiversity and Associate Editor of Chinese Science: Life Sciences, and an Editorial Board Member of National Science Review and other journals. In recent years, he has mainly conducted research on biodiversity maintenance mechanisms, conservation biogeography and biodiversity and ecosystem function, and published more than 260 SCI papers, including those in Science, PNAS, Science Advances, Nature Ecology and Evolution, Nature Communications and other academic journals; and edited more than 20 monographs/collections. As a scientific advisor to the Chinese government delegation, he has participated in most of the conferences of the parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
